General Assembly
Social media has become a major part of young people’s lives, creating new opportunities for connection, education, and self-expression while also raising concerns about privacy, cyberbullying, misinformation, and mental well-being. In this committee, delegates will explore how governments and international organizations can help create safer digital environments for young people.
Delegates will debate the responsibility of social media platforms, the role of governments in regulating online spaces, and the importance of digital literacy and mental health resources. They will also confront difficult questions surrounding censorship, freedom of expression, privacy, age verification, and the differences in technological and healthcare access between countries.
With perspectives ranging from stronger government regulation to greater emphasis on digital access and individual responsibility, delegates will need to negotiate practical international standards while respecting national priorities.
